Gardendale Baptist Tabernacle was founded in 1971 by Pastor Ronny Dabbs. After starting the church in a small house, GBT moved into the building which is now occupied by the school. A decade after the church was founded, a new church sanctuary was constructed. From 1971 until his homecoming in 1993, Pastor Ronny Dabbs faithfully preached the word of God.
      Since 1993, the leadership of the church has been under Pastor Rick Nelson, who worked side by side with Bro. Dabbs. Under Pastor Nelson's preaching of the Bible, the church has been mightily blessed. The church has grown to a fellowship of around 300 members and supports over 40 missionaries around the world. Many children are brought to church through the faithful work of the bus ministry.
      The vision has not changed since 1971. We look to the future and desire to see souls saved, to see the servants of God edified through sound Bible preaching, and to minister to young people whereby they seek God's will for their lives.
